Liz van Welie Aquatics Swimming Club (LVWASC) and Mount Maunganui Swimming Club (MMSC) are thrilled to co-host the third annual Splash for Cash swim meet! This exciting event returns to the Baywave TECT Aquatic & Leisure Centre on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th, 2026.

What makes Splash for Cash a favourite in the Bay of Plenty is the unique prize structure. Forget traditional medals – our competitors race for cold, hard cash! With nearly $3,000 in total prize money available across 38 racing events, every heat is a chance to win.

T&Cs / Notes

    1. Entry Fees: $12 per event. Relay and Skins events are free.
    2. Age: Age is at Day 1 of the meet (Saturday 27st June).
    3. Entries: This meet is open to all swimmers in the SNZ database. The 200 Fly, 400 Free and 400 IM are Open events. Entries close Tuesday 23rd June at 11.59pm.
    4. Entry Method: All clubs and swimmers can enter through SNZ Fastlane. See below for information on entry for Relays and Skins events. Any queries, please email mtswimrecorder@gmail.com
    5. Events: This is a designated meet. Electronic timing will be used. Meet to be swum under SNZ/Fina rules and local rules, with local rules taking precedence. All events are timed finals, with results declared for male and female in the following age groups: U12, U14, U16 and 16 and over. Prize money is awarded for male and female in each age group: $10 for 1st place, $7.50 for 2nd place, $5 for 3rd place.
    6. Relay Events: Relays submitted 15 mins before the start of Session 1. The Meet Director reserves the right to limit the number of relay teams per club so that there are no more than three heats per age group.
      Relay prize money will be awarded for the following age groups: 13&U, 14&O.
    7. Skins Events: To be eligible for Skins events, swimmers must be entered in at least 3 individual events, including the 100 IM. Skins participants will be selected based on their rank in the 100 IM (Event 1).
      There will be 5 races swum on 2:00, with the two slowest swimmers being eliminated after each race.
    8. Prize Money: Prize money is to be collected by Team Managers only, and must be signed for upon receipt.
    9. Amendments: LVWASC and MMSC reserve the right to amend session start times if needed.
    10. Protests: These must be lodged under SNZ Rules on the Swimming New Zealand Protest Form.
      Protests can be lodged only by the duly appointed Team Manager on the appropriate form, and must be accompanied by the correct fee of $100.

Meet Requirements

  • A $10 scratching fee will apply.
  • There will be no refunds given for scratchings.
  • NT’s must be provided by the swimmer’s coach or club.
  • Reseeding or the combining of heats will be at the discretion of the Referee or the Meet Director.
  • All participants must agree to comply with the Sports Anti-Doping Regulations.
  • The results will be posted as soon as possible at the conclusion of the event.
  • Over-the-top starts and the FINA One Start rule apply.
  • All spectators will be charged an entry fee by Bay Venues.
